Built in 1892 on the corner of Railroad Avenue and Hancock street (now the Cherry Street apartments). Columbia also had a second plant on Barnum Avenue on the East Side. Bridgeport engineers developed the two-sided record (although still called a single), the 33 1/3 long play record, and stereo.
